FREE Email validation

Validation Statuses

Free Email Validation

As one of the largest B2B data providers in the world, RampedUp validates 250 million professional email addresses a month. But, Catch All email servers are a big issue with half of all corporate mail servers just validating the domain, not the email address itself.

That is why we created Free Email Validation from our Email Exhaust database - a tool that validates both Verifiable and Catch All email addresses in the following ways:

  1. Email Delivery: We receive the delivery status of tens millions of email addresses used in marketing campaigns. The opens and clicks are promoted to Valid. Hard bounces are assigned an Invalid status.
  2. Web Source Emails: RampedUp scans hundreds of millions of corporate web pages each month for business intelligence.  When we find an email address and the address is Catch All, we assign the Deterministic status and provide the source.
  3. Authentication: Microsoft and Google provide the ability to authenticate users for their Office and Workspace products. Authentication makes an API call to their Active Directory to identify Valid email addresses.
  4. SMTP Negotiation: This is the traditional validation feature that results in a VALID or INVALID response as a result of communicating with the recipient's email server.
  5. Email Syntax: This is a close examination of the name in the email to identify Role Based emails or the domain to understand if it is Personal or Catch All. We also check to see if the email address is formatted correctly for delivery.

These combined sources make up our Email Exhaust database consisting of 800 million distinct records and over 3.7 billion signals.  It is a lot of work, but we think it is just too good to keep to ourselves.

That's why we are giving our customers access to this truly unique email validation product at no additional cost. Below are the fields available from the Free Email Validation tool

Free Email Validation - field definitions

This is the email address submitted for validation.

Valid – These have been confirmed as safe to send from the recipient's mail server or we have signals from our exhaust partners that show us the email is deliverable.

Invalid – These have been confirmed as unsafe to send from the recipient's mail server or we have seen the email bounced from our email exhaust partners.

Catch All – A catch all email server is configured to accept all emails sent to the domain, regardless of whether the specified recipient email address is valid. There is no validation date associated with these records

Unknown – These are email addresses that can be verified where the recipient’s mail server did not give us a status for SMTP negotiation. These are risky emails.

Grey Listed - This status denotes a High Security email servers that do not return a validation status.

Personal - The email domain isn't associated with a company but is used for personal reasons. Popular personal domains are G-Mail and Yahoo.

Role Based - These are professional email addresses, but not associated with a specific person. An example would be Sales or Contact before the email domain.

Deterministic - This is a CATCH ALL email address that we have seen on a public website.

This is the time stamp denoting when the email address was assigned a LAST VALIDATION STATUS. Professional Emails expire at a 3% rate per month - so multiply 3% by the number of months since the LAST VALIDATION DATE to get an idea as to the likely accuracy of LAST VALIDATION STATUS.

This is the part of the INPUT EMAIL before the @ symbol - also called the email name. We identify if the INPUT EMAIL is ROLE BASED or IS HUMAN with this field.

This is the part of the INPUT EMAIL after the @ symbol. We identify if the INPUT EMAIL is CATCH ALL or PERSONAL with this field. (And if it is a corporate email address)

These are fields derived from the user portion of the email address. These fields are used to identify the email PATTERN. If you are planning on using these fields to associate a FIRST NAME / LAST NAME, we recommend you only do so on records marked with IS HUMAN as TRUE.

These are websites or webpages denoting where we saw the INPUT EMAIL.  If an email address comes from a CATCH ALL server AND it has a WEB SOURCE, then we give the INPUT EMAIL a LAST VALIDATION STATUS of DETERMINSTIC.  The LAST VALIDATION DATE for this record is the time stamp of when we crawled the website or webpage.

This field denotes if the INPUT EMAIL has the correct construct to be delivered. We look for a correctly formatted USER, DOMAIN and @ symbol among other items. If VALID FORMAT is FALSE then the LAST VALIDATION STATUS will be marked as INVALID and no LAST VALIDATION DATE is given.

This field denotes that the USER portion of the INPUT EMAIL is not associated with a person but rather a role in an organization. These email addresses will most likely have high deliverability but poor response rates. If ROLE BASE is TRUE then the LAST VALIDATION STATUS will be marked as ROLE BASED.

This field denotes that the DOMAIN portion of the INPUT EMAIL is not associated with user's employer.  If PERSONAL EMAIL is TRUE then the LAST VALIDATION STATUS will be marked as PERSONAL.

This field denotes if the INPUT EMAIL address can be found in our Email Exhaust database. If EXHAUST MATCHED is TRUE, then the LAST VALIDATION STATUS and LAST VALIDATION DATE will come from the Email Exhaust.

This field denotes if the recency of the LAST VALIDATION DATE.  If NINETY DAYS OLD is marked as FALSE, then the LAST VALIDATION STATUS is trustworthy. If NINETY DAYS OLD is marked as TRUE, then we recommend additional email validation of these records.

This field denotes that the DOMAIN portion of the INPUT EMAIL will not allow for SMTP negotiation of the INPUT EMAIL.  Most companies have Catch All domains for security or customer service reasons, so we rely on additional methods from the Email Exhaust database for validation.

If DOMAIN IS CATCH ALL is marked as TRUE and EXHAUST MATCHED is marked as FALSE, then the LAST VALIDATION STATUS will be marked as CATCH ALL and there will be no LAST VALIDATION DATE.

When IS HUMAN is marked as TRUE, the INPUT EMAIL has visible elements of popular first and last names in the RampedUp Contact Database.  This is helpful If you do not have a FIRST NAME or LAST NAME associated with the INPUT EMAIL and would like to personalize a greeting.

This field denotes the naming pattern of the USER portion of the INPUT EMAIL. This field will only apply to INPUT EMAIL records where PERSONAL EMAIL is marked as FALSE.  We recommend using the predominant PATTERN of a distinct DOMAIN found over multiple INPUT EMAIL addresses for better accuracy of the email PATTERN.

This field denotes that the INPUT EMAIL was delivered and opened by a partner in the Email Exhaust program. When populated, the IP Address represents the device / location of the opener.

We recommend using IP Address as an email validation signal and not as field for identity resolution. It is too difficult to associate an IP ADDRESS to a person or company with just one signal.

RampedUp has grouped IP Addresses to company in the form of EMAIL OPEN IP SCORES found on RampedUp company records.
