In the US, Consumer Data Protection is currently enforced at the state level and part of a broader trend towards more stringent data protection and privacy regulations. While specifics can vary by state, the basic protections commonly found in these laws are centered around a Consumer’s Right to Access their data and request its deletion.
In short, these laws provide Consumers with the right to request access to the personal data that businesses collect about them. This includes information about what data is collected, how it is used, and with whom it is shared.
