Our industry is abuzz with the recent actions of Microsoft and Meta deprecating employment experience on publicly available data. For over a decade, public profiles have been a great source of user-supplied employment data and now that information is being withheld in the public domain. You wouldn’t be able to see this if you are logged into the system, but Microsoft and Meta provide a “public facing” profile for search engines. Data within the public domain can be aggregated by anyone who has the means to do so, or so says the US judicial system.
RampedUp has always relied on multiple sources for business data because of this exact reason. We monitor news feeds, corporate websites, and multiple social media outlets to identify people on the move. We are providing these notifications within our system under Alerts but now we are moving them into the contact database on a daily basis. Since we have increased our efforts in this area we have seen great results. Just look at the number of job changes for the Holiday week of September 2, 2024
- Sept 6 – 31,992
- Sept 5 – 33,275
- Sept 4 – 46,286
- Sept 3 – 42,475
We aim for transparency in our efforts in terms of Last Updated Date and now we are doing the same with Job Start Date. We have seen others in our industry switch from Job Start date to First Seen date because they no longer have employment data from public profiles. We have also seen the impact this has on employee / employer accuracy and it will only get worse. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average turnover rate in the US is 3.5% - source https://www.bls.gov/jlt/. That equates to 42% over 12 months. Imagine how impactful not having access to 42% of job changes would have on your contact database.
